Nahor, son of Terah

Nahor, son of Terah. (Nahor II)(Nachor). [Familytree].
Son of Terah.

In the account of Terah's family mentioned in Genesis 11:26-32, Nahor is listed as the son of Terah, amongst two other brothers, Abram and Haran (v.26,27). His grandfather was Nahor I, son of Serug. (S1).

26 And Terah lived seventy years, and begat Abram, Nahor, and Haran.
27 Now these are the generations of Terah: Terah begat Abram, Nahor, and Haran; and Haran begat Lot.
28 And Haran died before his father Terah in the land of his nativity, in Ur of the Chaldees.
29 And Abram and Nahor took them wives: the name of Abram's wife was Sarai; and the name of Nahor's wife, Milcah, the daughter of Haran, the father of Milcah, and the father of Iscah
. Genesis 11:26-29. (S2).

Nahor married the daughter of his brother Haran, Milcah, his niece.v.29 They may all have been born and raised in the city of Ur. (S1).

In the King James Version, Nahor is also referred to as Nachor. And Joshua said unto all the people, Thus saith the Lord God of Israel, Your fathers dwelt on the other side of the flood in old time, even Terah, the father of Abraham, and the father of Nachor: and they served other gods. (Joshua 24:2). (S2).

. This was about halfway along the Fertile Crescent between Mesopotamia and the Mediterranean, in what is now southeastern Turkey. In this region, Nahor and his family settled except for his brother Haran, who had died sometime ago back in Ur (v.28). The city where they settled, Harran, is the place where Nahor's father would die (v.32). Nahor II continued his own travels and settled in the region of Aram Naharaim, where he Nahor founded the city of Nahor. Genesis says this is in Mesopotamia, and some (S1) think the city of Nahor is in Paddan Aram region where Abraham settled for a while, but the exact location is not determined.

10 And the servant [of Abraham] took ten camels of the camels of his master, and departed; for all the goods of his master were in his hand: and he arose, and went to Mesopotamia, unto the city of Nahor. (Genesis 24:10). (S2).

Nahor and Milcah had eight sons. Nahor and his concubine, Reumah, also had four sons.

20 And it came to pass after these things, that it was told Abraham, saying, Behold, Milcah, she hath also born children unto thy brother Nahor;
21 Huz his firstborn, and Buz his brother, and Kemuel the father of Aram,
22 And Chesed, and Hazo, and Pildash, and Jidlaph, and Bethuel.
23 And Bethuel begat Rebekah: these eight Milcah did bear to Nahor, Abraham's brother.
24 And his concubine, whose name was Reumah, she bare also Tebah, and Gaham, and Thahash, and Maachah
