GEOFFREY I, of Anjou
GEOFFREY I, of Anjou. Grisegonelle (Greymantle).
Son of FULK II, of Anjou. He allied with the County of Nantes against the County of Rennes, and allied with Hugh Capet, fearing an invasion by the Count of Blois. He was one of the men responsible for bringing Hugh to the throne of France. He succeeded his father as count of Anjou, which title he held from 958 to 987. He died on 21 July 987.
Adelaide de Vermandois (Adele of Meaux)(Adelheid, Adela, Adeliza).
Born in 934; daughter of Robert of Vermandois and Adelais de Vergy. She died in 982.
CHILDREN of GEOFFREY I, de Anjou and Adelaide de Vermandois:
- Ermengarde-Gerberga d' Anjou. Born in 952. She married Conan I, Count of Bretagne, Count d' Rennes le Fort
- Fulk III of Anjou.
- Gerberga (b. 962), married Count William II of Angoulême.
- Adéle (d. ca. 1029), married Count William IV of Provence.
